Each Dosha (Kapha, Pitta, Vata) have specific elements and qualities. Many things in a yoga class set the tone to balance the season, time of day, and a student's unique constitution.
For example, Vata is cold, dry, rough, hard and mobile so practice should build up gradually and slowly to invite water element and cultivate fluidity and a downward earth energy. Pitta is hot, oily, and sharp so you need to bring in the missing elements of ether and earth and balance air to not fan the fire. Kapha is cold, heavy, slow, stable, soft and sticky so to balance you need ether, air and fire. This dosha requires heat to circulate the prana. So the practice should be consistent, warming and circulating.
